OTRES ART STUDIO
INTENTION & PURPOSE
Otres Art Studio is a place designed to provoke imagination and creativity. It accumulates stores and displays inspiration from and for anyone passing through.
Years previous I had already appointed the goal to inspire as my fuel for life, inspire the act of creation, stemming from the firm believe that creative activity is an added value to human co habitation. Even when we don't master the same language, visually we can cooperate and communicate, we are able to explore and share our experiences, without the need to address specifically we can release and improve. Otres Art Studio its main goal was and still is to provoke creation.
ARCHITECTURE & INTERIOR
In 2015 I initiated a building and design project in Otres Village, Cambodia.
There it was possible to experiment with construction and design freed from any regulations, I grabbed this opportunity. Without any previous experience nor related education I eagerly jumped into what was one of the most satisfying educational endeavours I've been lucky to experience. Stubborn and eager I overcame countless obstacles in order to design and built this vision and dream. The project developed over the course of three years into a five level, 10m heigh building. A live/work studio space incorporating four bedrooms and a dorm, as well as three studio workspaces a gallery and a shop.

CONTENT & TENANTS
The Art studio was an artist ran gallery, a micro community of creative tenants shared their skills and knowledge whilst simultaneously contributing towards the studio content with their own initiatives in workshop format and as seasonal business within the studio. Alongside the gallery the studio also housed a shop providing art supplies and a range of unique products and gifts created by tenants and volunteers.
In 2019 due to drastic changes in Sihanoukville, the Art Studio transitioned to Shine, an Australian charity devoted to the education and well being of the local youth. The studio contributes and continues to inspire whilst it now serves as an additional base for the organisation as an extension to the school.
